Here's what makes Sicamous "paradise" on Earth.
Sicamous, B.C. Canada
Sicamous is a lakeside resort community located between the shores of Mara Lake and Shuswap Lake. It is also located equally between Vancouver, B.C and Calgary, Alberta. There are hundreds of possible activities that you can take part in when you make Sicamous, B.C. your home, including:
Land activities on the Shuswap include golfing, hiking, camping, biking, hang gliding, zip lining, an adventure park, and an enchanted forest perfect for children. There are many restaurants, pubs, and other activities for everyone to enjoy: including the famous De Dutchman Dairy, with its incredible ice cream and live animals that you can touch! In 30 minutes, you can be in Downtown Salmon Arm, with eclectic shopping and major centers like Walmart.
Sicamous has two well-kept golf courses. Hyde Mountain is a unique and challenging golf course right on Mara Lake, with incredible panoramic views that will take your breath away. The 9-hole Eagle River golf course offers a challenging course right on the Trans-Canada highway. It has been rated as one of the most challenging 9-hole par course in Canada.
Residents enjoy a multitude of water activities, such as houseboating, boating, water skiing, wake boarding, kayaking, paddle boarding, and more! As Sicamous is known as the "Houseboat Capital of Canada," there are hundreds of available houseboats you can rent or own to enjoy both lakes. While soaking up the sun on Shuswap lake, take the opportunity to experience a five-star meal on a floating restaurant, known as "Shark Shack". If you like to catch your own meal, there are many fish species to tackle within the lake.
Sicamous is proud of our Canada day festivities that are hosted both in town, and on the water, such as the grand firework display. In summer, experience live concerts on the lake while in your watercraft. In winter, cozy-up outside to listen to carols from the CP rail holiday train and be a part of an annual holiday tree light-up. As a tight-knit community, there is always cheer and something to celebrate!
You can also take part in wine tasting tours at the many wineries around the area, with Kelowna only 90 minutes away boasting hundreds of world-renowned wineries.
Sicamous also has an abundance of mountain terrain to break trail on your snowmobile. These trails are becoming internationally renown, thanks to their beauty and varying difficulty. For those who enjoy cross-country skiing, Larch Hills grooms over 150 km of trails and is only 30 minutes away from Sicamous. For those who enjoy snow resorts; Revelstoke Mountain is only an hour away, as is Silver Star in Vernon. There are also multiple world-renowned resorts in Kamloops and Kelowna.
